Chatuchak buskers - a class of their own
by Admin ~ July 8th, 2009. Filed under: Bangkok, asia, travel.Everything is big in Bangkok especially when it comes to retail/wholesale of goods/food. One of the sights not to be missed is THE Chatuchak market in Bangkok. Widely believed to be the world’s biggest market with an estimated 15000 plus stalls set in 14 hectares of land, the weekend market requires at least one whole day of exploration. Each area has its own specialty eg. army wear, apparel, gifts, pets (yes, they sell all manner of live pets including snakes, iguana etc), garden wear, household items - you name it, they probaby have it. They even have live cock-fighting sessions in a more secluded part of the huge market. I was lucky that the last time I was there, I managed to see the cock fight. However, not all tourists are welcome. Maybe I look like a Thai.
Some interesting shots of Chatuchak - it’s a huge tourist attraction in Bangkok. Buskers are aplenty. Even an Australian doing the digeridoo (I am assuming he is Oz). Probably some backpackers hoping to extend their stay with some side income. The best is the balding guy with a football propped at the side of his head in a stationary position. You pay him to take a shot of him.
